If information reaching us is anything to go by, the wife of the former Vice President, Titi Abubakar is billed to pick up an international recognition award for the activities on her pet project, WOTCLEF.
Sources disclosed that the wife of Bishop of The Redeemed Evangelical Mission (TREM) will also receive recognition award. We gathered that the award is organized by Great Africa Network for Women in collaboration with Nigerians in Diaspora Organization, Germany (NIDO), and Nigeria Community, Berlin in partnership with Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, Berlin.
The event sources said will hold in Berlin, Republic of Germany on Saturday 4, 2010 at 6pm, Nigerian time. The organizers are also responsible for the Culture and Award ceremony to celebrate Nigeria’s 50th independence anniversary.
We can also tell you that the organizers are already in partnership with Institute for Cultural Diplomacy, Berlin where the event will hold. It was gathered that star actress, Shan George will entertain guests at the event.
According to Kate Imaseun, Executive Director and founder of Great Africa Network, the event is a conference designed to address the complex multi layered issues of human trafficking and forced labor/prostitution in women and children. Great Africa Network for women was established in 1999, to assist Nigerian women and children who were often trafficked to Europe under false promises of a better life and forced into prostitution and labor.
For the fashion enthusiasts in the late 80s, the name DAKOVA rings bell. David Kolawole Vaughan carved a niche for himself as one of the early starters of real fashion business in Nigeria and he had enjoyed the patronage of a good number of who-is-who in the social circle until the late 90s when he veered into politics apparently to attract more patrons.
Politics became one of his undoing factors as he was incarcerated on political related issues while his fast growing business crashed, hitting him so hard. Surviving from his several ordeals, he migrated to Abuja and started on a fresh note again. The celebrated fashion designer again veered into entertainment business. With his Aristotle Nite Club, fortunes again began to smile on him as society gals and politicians make his popular hangout located at Ceddis Plaza, Abuja, a place to visit. Little did he know that his detractors are at work again. Recently a dreaded team of National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) stormed his hangout in Abuja and whisked him away. Although he was said to have been released shortly after interrogation over what a source described as narcotic related issue. We gathered that he had earlier had a brawl with one of his customers who we gathered was a very influential young man over unpaid bills running close to a million naira. The young man we heard vowed to deal with him with all his might. Tale bearers are also pointing accusing business on some envious club owners in the city who feel the success of Aristotle Nite Club is detrimental to theirs.
We gathered that the club has not fully recovered from the incidence as full service are yet to begin, while patrons seem skeptical about their security at the fun centre. Whoever is behind this, sources yelped, the dimunitive designer will come out stronger, just a matter of time, he said.

One thing that many fans at the last World Cup will not forget in a hurry is the Nigeria @ 50 Village, built for the National Committee on Nigeria’s 50th Independence Anniversary by the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC). The village showcased Nigeria’s cultural heritage, tourism and business assets/potentials. The corporation, led by its Director General, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, coordinated activities at the village, located at the serene neighborhood of Zoo Lake in Johannesburg.
Runsewe built the village on behalf of the Anniversary Committee, as part of his initiatives at presenting Nigeria in good light.
South Africans and other nationals who hitherto, only saw Nollywood stars and film personalities on MNET AFRICAN MAGIC channel, also had rare priviledge of seeing the stars in person at the village in Johannesburg. Also at the venue were notable Nigerian musicians like Sunny Nneji, Shina Peters, Alariwo, Yinka Ayefele, Yinka Davies and Tee Mac. The Nollywood personalities present included Shan George, Bob Manuel Udokwu, Paul Adams and several others. Of course, there were ace comedians like Gbenga Adeyinka and M.C Abbey.
Last May Saturday 28th, 2010, ex-Miss Nigeria UK and boss of Elite Model Look Nigeria / Beth Modeling Agency, Elohor Isiohor , formally got engaged the traditional way to Owen Aisen Ogbebor, who runs a top club on the Island in Lagos.
The big news coming from her home front is that the pretty Edo babe is expecting a child.
In fact, Elohor, who was able to keep her pregnancy away from prying eyes on her traditional engagement ceremony which held at 10 Degrees Event Centre in Lagos seems not to be able to do so presently as her pregnancy is now very visible for all eyes to see.
All the same, Elohor is glowing from the experience, especially s she’s preparing for her white wedding which will take in London in August. Already, a lot of her friends on the Island are planning to attend the wedding, especially as its taking place at that time when summer holiday makers will be hitting London for their yearly holiday
Recently, Fumbi Akinyosoye, a big player in the Event Management Industry hosted friends and families at the wedding ceremony of her younger sister, Oluwakemi, a registered nurse who works with the Critical Rescue International (CRI). The groom is a Lagos banker and works with FCMB. They actually met at the FCMB, when she went over for a transaction and ever since, they have not had any reason to look back. They courted for over a year before they decided to formalize their wedding.
The wedding ceremony was a 2-in-1 event, as the engagement and wedding took place on the same day, Saturday July 3rd, 2010. The wedding ceremony kicked off with an Engagement Ceremony in the early hours of the day at the UNILAG Multi Purpose Hall, Akoka, Lagos, followed by the church service.
The solemnization took place at The Redeemed Christian Church of God, Jesus Never Fails Parish, Fadeyi, Lagos while reception followed immediately at the UNILAG Multi-purpose hall, Akoka, Lagos.
This is good news coming from across the nation, specifically from the UK. The news just came that ex- Miss Nigeria, Sylvia Edem Emecheta was delivered of a baby girl on Tuesday 13th July, 2010, in a London hospital. Coincidentally, the new baby girl shares the same birthday with her older sister, Sylvia’s 3-year-old daughter. The new baby has since been named Hazel.

Africa’s telecommunication giant, Globacom, has received yet another boost in pursuit of its vision to be the biggest and best telecom operator in Africa with the winning of a license to operate telecom services in Gambia. The license, the sixth company has so far won in Africa, comes barely four months after it won a similar license in Senegal.
Other countries where Globacom has telecom licenses are Nigeria, Ghana, Benin Republic and Cote D’Ivoire. The company started operations in Nigeria in August, 2003 and in Benin in June 2008. It has also concluded plans to roll out services in Ghana. The latest license approval was presented to Globacom at the Presidency in Banjul, Gambia on Monday by the Secretary General of the Government of Gambia, Dr Njogou BAH. In attendance of the presentation of the approval were that country’s Minister of Information, Communication and Technology, Alhaji A. Cham, and the Foreign Affairs counterpart, Hon.Momodou Tangara.
Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh later received the Globacom Delegation which included, the Executive Director, Human Resources, Mr Adewale Sangowawa, and Head of New Markets, Mr. Olayinka Olafimihan. Sangowawa, who received the approval on behalf of the company’s Chairman, Dr Mike Adenuga Jnr (CON), said the licence would enable the telecommunication giant to stimulate world class telecommunication services in Gambia.
The license will also allow Globacom to land its trans-Atlantic submarine cable, Glo 1, in West African country with opportunities to extend the infrastructure to neighboring countries. It also gives the company the right to carry traffic for customers in Gambia. With this development, the people of Gambia have now been positioned to be part of the telecommunication revolution which Globacom is bringing to Africa.

No doubt, Ibadan- based Mount Zion Faith Ministries is Nigeria’s foremost and biggest drama ministry. It was founded by Evangelist Mike Bamiloye. The drama ministry actually brought a revolution to the gospel movie sector in Nigeria . Evangelist Bamiloye’s talents and creativity are outstanding as he writes the scripts of all his movies and drama series, which has earned him so much respect. The popular movie evangelist is however achieving this feat with the joint effort of his wife, Gloria, with whom he has been able to build a brand which has not only gained recognition in Nigeria but also on the global scene.
They have a very inspiring success story as they both grew the group from the scratch with barely little money to finance their project. Evangelist Mike Bamiloye actually started the ministry when he was 25 years old, and since them, he has not had any course to look back.
According to what was gathered, he received the calling to become a drama ministers at a very early stage of his life. But it wasn’t until when he was undergoing his tertiary training at the College of Education, Ile Ife, that the calling became very glaring. Then he was a scriptwriter for the Christian Fellowship Drama Group of his institution. At that time, they used to stage Christian plays in order to bring student closer to God. He was then supporting and coordinating drama group by going to churches and campuses doing evangelism through their drama ministrations. Little did he know then that his ministry was about to start. So eventually he started the Mount Zion Faith Ministries on August 5, 1985.
Interestingly his first attempt to make movies failed, but with hard work, perseverance and persistent, he was able to break- even. The failure of his first film led him into stage ministration through the leading of God, and that was how he started the drama ministration traveling from one church to the other and from one city to the other staging Christian plays.
In 1986, he staged their debut drama ministration at the National Christian Teachers Conference in Ilesa, Osun State, titled Hell in Conference, and that marked the beginning of a turn-around for the ministry. As the ministry was experiencing growth, Bamiloye finally went into film production in 1990, when he recorded and edited the “The Unprofitable Servant” which was aired on television in the Easter of 1990.
But the film that actually brought his ministry into limelight was Agbara Nla, which was actually his first TV serial. It was one series that was very popular in the 90s, and most people couldn’t do without watching it. It held most families in major parts of the country spell bound during the period. And since then, it has been one success story to another as all their movies have been block busters. They have even taking their film production to another as they now go to some nice places in Europe to shoot their movies.
And in 25 years, they have lost count on the number of movies they have produced. Notable among their drama series include; Agbara Nla, Apoti Eri, Back to Zero Point, Blood on the Altar, Busy but guilty, Captives of the Mighty, Covenant Child, Enemy of my Soul, Forgotten Ones, Foundation, Fruitless Tree, Gods are dead, Haunting Shadows, Just a little sin, One careless night, Storms of Life, The wounded heart, The Youthful lusts amongst others.
The small drama group that was formed then has now grown into a full fledge drama ministry with different department such as Drama, Drama Outreaches, Film Production, Marketing, Production Studios, Publication and Vision Carriers. A couple of years back, the ministry also started expanding to French speaking countries and it has also made its mark in those countries too.
The story of Mount Zion Faith Ministries will also not be complete without the mention of the role Mike Bamiloye’s wife, Gloria played in the building of the ministry. She can be describe as an epitome of support to the ministry. She also added glamour to the
Ministry coupled with her natural beauty, which a lot of people fell in love with. Even without make-up, she is a damsel. She also has good acting skills as she is very good in holding her viewers spell bound. She got married to her husband at a tender age of 20.
They are both alumni of the same institution, though he had graduated by the time she gained admission into the institution. It was when Mike came back to teach them Playlet that they met. He used to be like a senior and big brother. And over time, the bond between them became stronger, and it became obvious that Evangelist Mike wanted more, so when he proposed; it wasn’t an easy decision for her as she was considered too young by her parent to even think of settling down in marriage. But after stiff opposition from her families and friends, she followed her heart and the will of God for her life, and their marriage story has been a roller coaster one.
Mike Bamigboye does not joke with her as he loves and adores her. According to what we gathered, he always shows affection for her even openly. He always put her first in most of the things he does. This is because the wife is very significant of his life and ministry. To start with, he inaugurated the Ministry the same year he started courting his wife. So they actually started the ministry together before they latter got married. She on her own part is also a very loving and caring wife, and she is not even intimidated by the fact that her husband has to play some husband roles with other women in most of their movies. She rather looks at the bright side of things.
Above all, she had stood by him through thick and thin. When they got married, he was a full-time minister and it wasn’t as if the money had started rolling in. Ever since Bhaira Mcwizu emerged as the winner of AMBO 3, Amstel Malta Box Office Reality Show, she has not been romantically linked to any man. This is because in as much as she had always wanted to live a life in the spotlight, she has really handled her stardom well. This has to with her background and upbringing as she has her younger ones looking up to her. So she chooses the kind of events that she attends and she is not just spotted everywhere like many of her contemporaries who emerge winners of similar shows. And even when she steps out, it’s always in the company of her friends. She takes her life so seriously. In as much as she likes to have fun, party and hangout, she never really has time for frivolities.
It wasn’t until recent time when people started noticing the closeness between Bhaira and the AMBO 2 winner, OC Ukeje. Initially, when they were first sighted, a lot of people didn’t really attach so much meaning to their relationship. This is because when Bhaira won last year, she stated she was in a relationship with her steady boyfriend then, which she used to have before she entered for the competition. Even in some of the interviews she granted after she won the competition, she was always singing praises of how her boyfriend is not ruffled by her new status. And the fact that he is very glad and supportive of her and also have strong trust in her. She was so excited talking about him and considered herself lucky to have him. Though they have never really stepped out together as couple, most people always see her as a girl that has her relationship as well as her career going well for her. But it wasn’t long that people started noticing that there might be more to the relationship between her and OC Ukeje and which was obviously more than he being her predecessor in the competition. This is because; the two of them have been sighted together at some recent major events. And the fact that they don’t hide their feeling for each other made it even more glaring, and they hardly leave each other’s sight when they are together. For the duo, it’s not a secret affair, as they always storm events together and always take time to take pictures together on the red carpet. They were both at a function that held recently in Bayelsa together, and they were in the spotlight of the paparazzi from the print media to the electronic media, and they were not even bothered about that the closeness might actually mean they are neck-deep in a relationship.
According to what was gathered, the duos are actually taking the relationship serious. They both met in the course of their acting career as they obviously have a lot in common. Both of them had quickly fallen for each other and one thing led to another. The result is a romance that has become hotter with each passing day. And the interesting thing is that they are not discreet about their affair. Though when Bhaira was asked about her affair with OC Ukeje, she was said to have denied having anything with her. But there are those that believe that there is more to their relationship, and with the seriousness and commitment they have both infuse into it, it might even be altar bound.
Bhaira McWizu was actively participating in her family’s business by running a hotel for her mum. Her career path changed when she entered the AMBO House. Following in the remarkable footsteps of previous AMBO movies, Cindy’s Notes was nominated for several AMAA awards including one for Bhaira who received a nomination for Most Promising Actress at the 2009 edition of the award.
Season 2 of AMBO was clinched by OC Ukeje who beat off other housemates by consistently delivering strong performances during his stay in the AMBO House.
