Spread the love

As you read this, friends and family of Lagos Big Boy, Tamunotonye Boma Claude- Wilcox are trying to come to terms with the sudden death of the 45 years old Lagos Big Boy. It came as a rude shock penultimate Friday, the 21st of January,2011 when news went around that he had passed on. For those he had just waved goodbye few hours earlier, it was shocking occurrence, while for his friends waiting for him in Port Harcourt, it was a completely devastated news. What made it more sad is the fact that he died doing what he loved to do- riding his power-bike. Around mid day on that day, he was said to have set off for Port-Harcourt from Lagos to attend the traditional wedding of Tonye Graham-Douglas and had called ahead to let them know. To usher his friend out of Bacherlorhood, he chose to make the trip from Lagos to Port-Harcourt on his bike! City People learnt that it was a smooth ride until just after Warri around Patani, just about an hour to Port-Harcourt. Along the Uvwreni junction, he was said to have collided with a vehicle and died instantly. Interestingly, he is been buried the same day as his friend will be exchanging his marital vows.
Though a bit on the quite side, Tonye was a big boy by all ramifications. Well known within the Downstream Oil sector, he used to work with Sahara Energy before he left to co-start Petroleum Brokers Ltd who are Energy Trailers. This Federal Government Port-Harcourt alumnus is one of the 10 Big Boys who are all bikers who formed a bikers club in Lagos called Easy Rider. He was a respected member of the popular Motocycle Hard Ridaz Club. Fondly called “Bodie”, already his remains have been laid to rest in Port-Harcourt. Last Thursday, the 27th of January, a Service of Songs held in his honour at Rumuebekwe Housing Estate, PH. On Saturday, the 29th , his Funeral Service held at the Civic Center, PH, followed by a Lying in state and Interment at Peterside, Bonny, Rivers State.
