Kim Kardashian has spoken out in the wake of the bombshell news she is divorcing Kris Humphries, insisting she had hoped the marriage would 'last forever'. The 31-year-old reality star said it was 'not an easy decision' after filing for divorce from NBA star Kris, 26, after just 72 days of marriage on the grounds of 'irreconcilable differences'.
In a statement to E! - which screens her TV show - Kim said: 'After careful consideration, I have decided to end my marriage. I hope everyone understands this was not an easy decision.
'I had hoped this marriage was forever, but sometimes things don't work out as planned. We remain friends and wish each other the best.'
Kris, meanwhile, says he is devastated by Kim's decision, claiming he only learnt she was divorcing him this morning.
'I'm committed to this marriage and everything this covenant represents,' he told the website.
'I love my wife and am devastated to learn she filed for divorce ... I'm willing to do whatever it takes to make it work.'
News of their divorce will no doubt add fuel to the fire that the wedding was merely a cynical manoeuvre to cash in at a time when Kim's star had reached its zenith.
Today Kim took to Twitter, but rather than mentioning anything about her marital breakdown cynically plugged her new boutique Kardashian Khaos, which opens tomorrow at The Mirage hotel in Las Vegas.
The date of Kim and Kris's separation is listed as today (October 31), divorce papers logged with the Superior Court of California show.
She has hired top divorce lawyer Laura Wasser, who has dealt with the likes of Britney Spears, Maria Shriver, Angelina Jolie and Ryan Reynolds.
Television network E! - which screens the Kardashian reality show - released a statement about the divorce.
It read: 'All of us at E! are surprised and saddened by this news, and we send our support to Kim and Kris at this difficult time.
'The Kardashians have always been uniquely open with all aspects of their lives from joyous events to intimate moments to heartbreaking transitions.
'E! will continue to share the fascinating real lives and larger-than-life existence of this close-knit family.'
The couple's fiery relationship was captured on her reality show Keeping Up With Kardashians, where strong-minded Kris frequently complained about feeling 'emasculated' by Kim.
Another big factor behind the split hinges on difference in opinion about where to live once the wedding fuss died down.
Sources revealed Kris was set on moving to his home state of Minnesota. Kim, meanwhile, wanted to stay in Los Angeles, she she is from and where she believes her career can be best served. While the break up is not a 'nasty one' the couple came to the realisation that things would not work out long-term
This will mark the second failed marriage for Kim, she eloped to Las Vegas with music producer Damon Thomas - 10 years her senior - when she was just 19, but divorced in 2004 after four years together.
She has also had high-profile relationships with RnB singer Ray J, who she filmed a sex tape with, and NFL star Reggie Bush.

Finally, Osita Ohime, popularly known as Paw-Paw will be getting a national award just like his screen twin, Chinedu Ikedieze(Aki) who was accorded recognition last year by the federal government amid controversy.
It would be recalled that stakeholders in the movie industry raised dust, following the inability of the government to accord the same recognition to Paw-Paw when his contemporary, Chinedu Ikedieze was honored last year.
The stakeholders argued that both diminutive actors started their careers same time, featured in the same movies and won many laurels together and therefore deserved to be honored jointly.
Osita Iheme will be among the six Nollywood stars announced on Thursday by the government as recipients for this year’s National awards. He will be honored with the Member of the Federal Republic (MFR) award. He will be honored alongside notable actors and actresses including Olu Jacobs, Genevieve Nnaji, Stephanie Okereke, Amaka Igwe and Kanayo O Kanayo.

Want to know if you could be getting engaged soon? Bebeakinboade.blogspot.com presents some sneaky hints that your boyfriend is about to put a ring on it.
1. He's extra helpful.
If your guy shows a sudden interest in doing dishes or picking out sheets at Bed, Bath & Beyond, he may be trying to prove he's husband material. Before he pops the question, he'll subconsciously seek out ways to show off his domestic side. He wants to make sure you see him as a partner who pulls his weight.
2. He talks himself up.
Even though you have a career of your own and can take care of yourself, most men still want to be on solid financial footing (good job, decent salary, clear credit) before getting engaged. It’s instinctual for men to want to provide for their partner. And they'll frequently point out their ability to do so in the weeks leading up to an engagement. That means he may brag a little about an accomplishment at work or casually hint that he's receiving a larger than usual bonus.
3. He acts like you just started dating.
Think back to the past few weeks. Has your guy been unusually attentive? Maybe he's brought you just-because flowers or taken you out on elaborate dates. "He's pulling out all the stops to make sure that when the time comes, you say yes.Yeah, it's a tad sneaky, but he's also making those gestures because he's genuinely excited about the possibility of marrying you. Planning a proposal reignites that new love buzz for a lot of men..
4. He quizzes you.
When it comes to the actual will-you-marry-me moment, most guys want it to be as personal and meaningful as possible. That may require digging up some little-known facts about you. If your boyfriend has been asking random questions about things like your favorite flower or a childhood memory, he may be gathering info that will help him plan the perfect proposal. Not only does he want it to be special for you, but he knows all of your friends will ask, 'How did he do it?', and he wants you to have an amazing story to tell.
5. He's really concerned about the details.
On the big day, you can bet your guy will be ridiculously nervous. Even if he's certain you'll say yes, he's still anxious about whether or not he'll be able to pull off whatever it is that he has planned. If he's typically laid-back but freaks out about being on time to dinner, or he's borderline aggressive when he insists you order the chocolate cake for dessert, it's possible he's got something sparkly up his sleeve ... or least in a little box in his pocket.

According to the website of DEAFA 2011, AY will compete in the Comedian of the Year Category against some of UK’s funniest and well celebrated comedians –Eddie Kaddi and Kojo.
AY, Eddie Kaddi, and Kojo, are comedians with knack for selling-out live comedy concerts. AY had sold out Muson Centre in Lagos in 2007; The Ladi Kwali Hall of Sheraton Hotel, Abuja in 2009; the Indigo O2 Arena, London in 2010; ThisDay Dome Abuja in 2011, and the New Expo Hall of Eko Hotel and Suites, Lagos, also in 2011. “I’m excited at the nomination,” AY says, “because I see it as a celebration of divine favour which brought me from a lowly undergraduate in Delta State University to becoming the Event Manager of Nigeria’s finest comedian Alibaba, to been honoured as the upcoming comedian of the Year just four years ago, to having my producing The AY Show, Staging AY Live comedy invasions across Nigeria and the UK, and now to global recognition.”

Heavily pregnant showbiz star, Helen Paul popularly known as Tatafo is gradually warming up for motherhood. The talented comedienne, who is on a 9 months course, will soon pop her first child as her pregnancy has reached an advance stage.
And we can authoritatively tell you that Helen’s look as changed rapidly as a result of her new status. She is looking chubbier and you might have to take a second look before you realize it’s the same Helen Paul.
She is indeed rocking her pregnancy well, as she has been able to maintain her energetic spirit irrespective of her present state.
Helen Paul who got married in 2010 to her heartthrob, Oluwafemi Bamisile is excitedly waiting for her first child, and warming up to join the mother’s club.
She's maintained a dignified poise ever since her break-up with husband Mark Anthony, but tonight Jennifer Lopez broke down in front of a packed auditorium as she sang about love. The 42-year-old was shimmering through her headline performance at the Mohegan Sun Arena's 15th anniversary celebration when she started sobbing and had to leave the stage.
Jennifer had just performed a raw, unembellished rendition of I You Had My Love when she told the audience that the 1999 track was 'the first song I wrote about love.'
The emotionally overwrought superstar then shocked the crowd by beseeching: 'What is love?'
Before adding: 'As the last song I wrote about love...a lot has changed since then.'
If You Had My Love centres around the theme of trust.
Lopez wrote the song when she was in a fledgling relationship with rap P Diddy, the pair had a tumultuous relationship for three years before she married backing dancer Chris Judd.
Then she became one half of Bennifer with Ben Affleck, and embroiled in one of the highest profile relationships of last decade - until it ended in their wedding being called off at the last minute.
She found love - and motherhood - with Latin superstar Marc Anthony, and as they headed towards their seventh wedding anniversary in June this year, things seemed to still be hot.
The couple wowed American Idol fans with their sizzling performance together on the May final, but just weeks later they announced their shock split.
Tellingly in the song that Lopez penned before all this happened, she ends her entreaty to a lover with the line: 'I have to know the truth, If I spend my life with you.'
But the mother-of-two had set herself up for the cavalcade of painful feelings by having dancers recreate her important relationships while she sang.
At the end of the song she started sobbing and had to take a few moments to keep it together. She held it together for one song but then ran offstage crying. Everyone was so sad for her. It was really dramatic.

Also, equipment and facilities needed to make the college a talk-of-the-town in Ikeja, Lagos axis has been installed.
We learnt that funds for the project came from partners of the amiable partner.
Star Actress, Mosun Filani is a happy person at the moment, and her dream to quit spinsterhood may soon come to reality, if the story hovering around the pretty actress is anything to go by.
According to what we gathered, the talented Yoruba actress is in love, and it might be altar bound. She met her heartthrob couple of months back during one of his visits to Nigeria. Since then, the romance has been waxing stronger and stronger.
We also learnt that the Abeokuta, Ogun State actress has started telling those who care to believe that she is now in a serious relationship and come December 2011, marital vows will be exchanged with the lucky guy who is said to be residing in the UK.
Her new lover, Oluwadare who hail from Ondo State has finally proposed to her. He is so fond of her, and both families are aware of the relationship.

Colonel Gaddafi's death has raised the question of what will happen to the missing billions he siphoned off and deposited around the world. The fallen dictator is believed to have had around $168 billion in assets abroad, most of which has been frozen since the start of the year. The stash includes a string of plush properties, valuable real estate and shares in multinational companies.
Most of the assets were channeled by the Libyan Central Bank and Libyan Investment Authority, the £60 billion sovereign wealth fund the Gaddafi family is believed to have used as a private bank account. A significant amount is still in the hands of surviving members of the deposed tyrant’s family, and could be used to fund insurgents in the newly liberated Libya.
Sums are likely to be in neighboring countries like Algeria, which are being used as safe havens for Gaddafi’s wife and grown-up children, and grandchildren. It is also thought that members of the Gaddafi family who fled to Algeria were carrying gold bars.
The palatial neo-Georgian townhouse was used by the tyrant's son Saif al-Islam Gaddafi before it was taken over by squatters in March.
It has a swimming pool and suede-lined cinema room and was purchased in 2009 - but its future is now uncertain.
Today, officials claimed Saif has been captured close to Tripoli after suffering critical injuries in a bombing raid.
