RUNWAY PICTURES FROM STELLA JEAN’S COLLECTION TITLES WAX & STRIPES PHILOSOPHY

Stella Jean is a Haitian designer who has roots in West Africa. The designer’s most recent collection, "Wax & Stripes Philosophy” reflects a mood reminiscent of her own multicultural personal journey, translated into a stylistic point of balance.
“The “Wax & Stripes Phylosophy” thus professes and projects the culture of encounter: the two cultures never negotiate their own membership, instead mixing in response to the needs of the times.

Known for her signature prints, Stella Jean was the first women’s designer to show her collection at Giorgio Armani’s theater, Armani Teatro. Jean brought influence from her Haitian and Italian heritage into her collection with brightly coloured African patterns. Voluminous silhouettes were contrasted with oversized coats in prints that displayed bold stripes, pineapples, avocados and parrots.
