his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), during a meeting inside the
Presidential Villa on Thurday October 23. He told senior party officials that
he would purchase the party’s nomination form ahead of the October 30, 2014
deadline.

The party’s
leadership recently adopted the President as its sole Presidential candidate
amidst pockets of complaints from some members. Even with his adoption,
President Jonathan had declined to openly confirm whether he’ll seek reelection
even though his body language tilted towards the obvious.

With Thursday’s
confirmation, reports said the President has set up a campaign declaration
committee headed by a former Chairman of the party and ex-federal minister of
Defence, Dr. Halliru Bello. The President is expected to formally declare
between November 7 and November 15.
