WHY STAR BANNED DR.SID FROM STAR TREK

Spread the love

Followers of
one of the biggest music concerts in Africa, Star Trek would question why one
of Nigeria’s finest performers, Dr. Sid was missing from the list of artistes
performing at this year’s edition of the concert. Entertainment Rave can
authoritatively report that the Mavin Records recording artiste has been banned
indefinitely from performing at any Star and by extension, Nigerian Breweries
organized event.
In a mail
exclusively obtained by us, Dr. Sid was blacklisted and banned because of his
lackadaisical attitude when last scheduled to perform on the concert in
2014.  Dr. Sid arrived at the Benin venue
of the Star Music Trek very late and missed critical elements of the terms of
engagement agreed to in the contract.

The
essential elements missed by Dr. Sid as stated in his contract includes;
attending a sound check/dress & tech briefing between 12 noon and 3pm
before the performance to clarify such issues as lightings, sound
reinforcement, performance flow, play duration and participating in radio and
television advertisement promoting the Tour.
According to
the handlers of Star Trek, “where the Artistes fail or refuse to turn up or
make himself available for the sound check, briefing or any other required time
before the Concert (including but not limited to arriving each Venue at the
allotted time on each Tour Date), EXP and NB Plc shall be entitled to act
against the Artistes in a manner whatsoever that will protect their interests
including but not limited to removing the Artistes from the Tour or making
deductions from the Artistes fees”.
As provided
for under the contractual agreement, the organisers opted to espouse the
penalty which is to blacklist Dr. Sid from further gigs and deduct 20% from his
last performance fee.
Star Music
Trek was introduced in 2002 as an annual nation-wide musical concert tour that
parades the best of Nigerian artistes across 10 cities pan Nigeria. According
to Nigerian Breweries, makers of Star, the objective remains to offer Nigerians
in every nook and cranny a good share of the brighter life, in terms of
entertainment and enjoyment.
