Mabel Babatunde Okungbowa, the first wife of late OJB Jezreel, has revealed more about the demise of her husband.

Mabel, who is fondly called ‘Mama J’, revealed that his death was so sudden and she was by his side all through till he passed away.

According to her, OJB had been having the normal signs of his kidney disease that morning but this time he was in a lot of pains.

“It wasn’t really dramatic, it was just the normal signs we see when he’s about going for his dialysis but this time he was in a lot of pains and I was by his side all through. His death is all so sudden because we were still speaking about plans for his 50th birthday over the weekend,” she disclosed.

In 2013, Mabel saved her husband’s life after he was diagnosed with kidney infection by donating one of her kidneys to him.

Later that year, OJB had a successful transplant in India, but apparently things didn’t go well enough. And despite his death, Mabel stated that she is glad she made that decision three years ago.

“I don’t regret it, I did it because I wanted to. I wasn’t forced to do it. After all, he’s my husband, so I don’t regret it” she said.

Sources revealed that OJB didn’t want to go public after his kidney failed last week. He reportedly had plans to sell his Surulere residence for N50 million to gather more money so he could go for another surgery that would cost close to $150,000.

OJB will be remembered for being the mastermind behind a number of hit songs including 2Face Idibia’s African Queen.
