THERESA MAY TO SUCCEED DAVID CAMERON AS PRIME MINISTER



Theresa May will be Britain's second-ever female leader and the 54th prime minister.  She will succeed David Cameron as prime minister, effective from Wednesday.

Speaking shortly after the announcement was made yesterday Monday July 11, May told reporters: "I am honoured and humbled to have been chosen by the Conservative Party to become its leader." She went on to pay tribute to her predecessor, David Cameron for "the leadership he has shown our party and our country".
