FUEL CRISIS OVER AS GOVERNMENT, FUEL IMPORTERS SETTLE RIFT

The
petroleum crisis in Nigeria is over. The federal government and all aggrieved
stakeholders in the oil and gas sectors have reached an agreement after a
meeting on Monday.
Senator
Magnus Abe, who read a communiqué after a public hearing on the crisis in the
sector, organised by the Joint Senate Committee on Petroleum Resources
(Upstream and Downstream), said all aggrieved unions have agreed to end the
dispute in the nation’s interest.

MONAN,
PENGASSAN and NUPENG have all agreed to return to work immediately.
 “We have
agreed on the following: first is that the Minister of Finance will give an
undertaking to the Major Marketers and Depot Managers that the work of the
committee being headed by CBN and PPPR, on the outstanding claims, would be
concluded and be reflected in the hand over notes to the incoming
administration,” he said.
The Major
Oil Markers Association Nigeria (MONAN) said its members will begin the
distribution of petroleum products immediately.
