MEET THE NEW MISS UNIVERSE 2019
Zozibini Tunzi is now Miss Universe 2019 and the world needs to know about the stunning winner of the pageant. Ninety women from all over the world participated at this year Miss Universe beauty pageant which took place at Tyler Perry Studios in Atlanta on Sunday, December 8 . After rounds of swimsuit and evening gown struts, questions on social issues and last opportunity to justify why the participant is the right choice, Miss South Africa Zozibini Tunzi finally won the title.
26 -year-old Zozibini is a South African model. She started her pageantry career in 2017 when she was accepted as one of the top 26 semifinalists of Miss South Africa 2017, although she was not shortlisted as one of the twelve finalists. She went back to compete in Miss South Africa 2019 and became the winner.
Zozibini was born in Tsolo, a town in the Eastern Cape of South Africa. She belonged to a family of teachers, her mother being a school principal and father an employee at the Department of Higher Education and Training in Pretoria.
Prior to winning Miss South Africa, Zozibini earned her BA in Public Relations at the University of Technology, Cape Peninsula; she also worked as a graduate intern at Ogilvy Cape Town’s Public Relations Department.
She is now the third South African woman to win the title, and the first black woman to be named Miss Universe after Leila Lopes was crowned in 2011. She is also the first woman with Afro-textured hair to win the crown.
Zozibini will live in New York City as the Miss Universe and attend a series of events and shows worldwide.
