REAL REASON WHY FORMER CBN GOVERNOR, SANUSI LAMIDO IS THE NEW EMIR OF KANO

Spread the love

The Kano State Governor has appointed Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the former Governor of Central Bank as the emir of Kano. The race for the vacant stool started immediately the death of Emir Ado Bayero was announced.
The late Emir had up to 70 children, including females. So the battle was between the Bayeros and Sanusis whose fathers were brothers. Bebeakinboade.com gathered that although the Emir appointed his son as Ciroman Kano(heir apparent), that did not translate into automatic succession. The fate of the candidates lies with the kingmakers, who will make recommendation to the Kano State Government.
Our source also revealed that the Emirate seeks a ruler who will consolidate on the unprecedented developments recorded during the reign of Ado Bayero. So beyond being versed in the history and tradition of Kano Emirate, the new Emir is expected to be highly educated, morally upright, cool-headed, well-connected and with a tinge of international influence and a symbol of peace.
For the first time, the kingmakers have blue-blooded canditates who are exposed and well-educated abroad. And Sanusi Lamido has intimidating credentials. Mr Sanusi made sweeping reforms during his time as the Central Bank Governor, tackling widespread fraud in the financial sector.
The new emir becomes one of the most influential spiritual leaders in the country’s largely Muslim north. One of Mr Sanusi’s key roles will be helping tackle the mounting insurgency by Boko Haram militants in the north.
