REAL REASON WHY FORMER CBN GOVERNOR, SANUSI LAMIDO IS THE NEW EMIR OF KANO
The Kano State Governor has appointed Mallam Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the former Governor of Central Bank as the emir of Kano. The race for the vacant stool started immediately the death of Emir Ado Bayero was announced.
The late Emir had up to 70 children, including females. So the battle was between the Bayeros and Sanusis whose fathers were brothers. The new emir becomes one of the most influential spiritual leaders in the country’s largely Muslim north. One of Mr Sanusi’s key roles will be helping tackle the mounting insurgency by Boko Haram militants in the north.
